Panzer vor in Oarai, Ibaragi.

Oarai, a town in Ibaragi prefecture,is getting(becoming) a very hot spot because of the animation "GIRLS AND PANZER". This is the same town where the story takes place in the animation. On March 24th "The Ocean Music Festival" was held there and over 50,000 people visited Oarai. Most of them are fans of "GIRLS AND PANZER".

Oarai is famous for sea food and anglerfish hot pots. A lot of visitors come to enjoy fresh and delicious sea foods during November till march every year. However, there aren't many visitors during weekdays. Even during best season, only about 30-40 percent of the visitors stay at a hotel in Oarai. However, thanks to the animation, since GIRLS AND PANZER was launched on TV, more than 80% of the rooms are occupied everyday and all are fully taken at weekends and on public holidays.
Currently many GIRLS AND PANZER associated events have been held by the towners. Oarai station is featuring a "GIRLS AND PANZER" special exhibition at the station, "GIRLS AND PANZER" stamp rally is held in the town and "GIRLS AND PANZER" related special items are sold in Oarai Iwai Market. This is the place "GIRLS AND PANZER" fans want to be now!

Foreign language support
There are English and Chinese sightseeing brochures in Oarai and you can get them from the tourist information center. However in most of the facilities, most of the staff only speaks Japanese.
